Waseda University is opening an office in Brussels from April 2016. One of its main aims will be to facililtate research collaboration with European researchers and universities, and networking with academic institutions in Europe for Horizon 2020 joint research and other activities (Prof. Norimasa Morita, Vice President for International Affairs Waseda University, in the Japanese Journal of European Studies, 2016, vol. 4).
Currently, the Kobe University Brussels European Centre is the only representation of a Japanese university in Brussels. Kansai University is also represented in Belgium through the Kansai University Japan-EU Research Center at the Japanese Studies department of Leuven University.
